PRESSED, NOT LAYERED

E-max Veneers in the Dominican Republic

E-max is pressed from a single block of lithium disilicate rather than layered by hand, which is why it holds its strength at thicknesses where other ceramics would be fragile.

THE DIFFERENCE

One block, no layers

Layered porcelain is built up in successive coats and fired between them. E-max starts as a solid ingot of lithium disilicate that is pressed into shape under heat and pressure. The result has no internal boundaries between layers, and boundaries are where restorations tend to fail first.

That matters most when the restoration has to be thin. A tooth that needs minimal reduction, or a case where the bite leaves little room, is where a pressed ceramic earns its place. Dr. Collado will tell you in the consultation whether your case is one of them.

The clinic publishes E-max at US$300 per tooth. That figure is the material and the restoration; what your case needs in total depends on how many teeth are involved and whether anything has to be treated first.

THE RESULT

Strength you are not supposed to notice

A stronger ceramic is only useful if it still reads as a tooth. E-max transmits light well, though slightly less than a hand-layered feldspathic porcelain, and that difference is the honest trade-off between the two materials.

For most people the trade is worth it. For a case where the front teeth sit in strong daylight and translucency is the whole point, porcelain may be the better answer. The consultation is where that gets decided against your face, not against a preference.

YOUR QUESTIONS

Answered plainly.

How is E-max different from porcelain veneers?+

E-max is pressed from a single block; layered porcelain is built up in coats. E-max is stronger at thin dimensions; layered porcelain transmits light slightly better. Which suits you depends on your case.

What does E-max cost here?+

The clinic publishes E-max veneers at US$300 per tooth. Your total depends on how many teeth are treated, which is agreed in the consultation.

Is E-max metal free?+

Yes. Lithium disilicate contains no metal substructure, so there is no grey line at the gum over time.
